We are making changes to protect the health and safety of our staff, our clients and the wider community. VARTA is aiming to continue its normal service provision, however there may be delays or changes to our activities.

If you are unable to get in touch with us via phone (+61 3 8601 5250) please send your enquiry using the email.

Please submit all registrations and applications (e.g. to donor registers; for import/exports) using the email.

We are currently operating with minimal staff in the office. While mail is now being directed to the VARTA office, with some staff working from home, email communication remains a faster way of communicating with us. Please email us at or

Below is a list of updates for specific VARTA services you may be interested in. Thank you for your patience during this time.

If you are planning to start fertility treatment or are currently receiving treatment, you can access more information about the impact of COVID-19 on fertility treatment and pregnancy here.

Counselling sessions

To reduce the risk of transmission, the majority of counselling sessions for donor register services are being done via Skype, Zoom or telephone.

Support groups

All group meetings, including our support groups, are being postponed or held via Zoom. Participants will be notified and updated information will be posted on relevant VARTA website pages soon. You can read more about registering your interest for virtual support group meetings here.

Applications to the Voluntary and Central registers

Applications to the donor registers are being processed in a timely manner  and counsellor outreaches to all people affected by an application, including donor-conceived people, is returning to normal. There was a temporary suspension of some outreaches in 2020 due to COVID-19.

We will continue to post updates about significant changes to our services on the VARTA website homepage. We appreciate your flexibility and understanding.
