Melbourne donor conception exhibition a world-first

 

A world-first exhibition exploring donor conception through art, photography and archival material will be open to the public from Friday, June 5 at Melbourne’s City Library Gallery.

The 'Donor conception: towards openness' exhibition, dedicated to the memory of Narelle Grech who campaigned for the right to have information about her biological heritage, is an initiative of the Victorian Assisted Reproductive Treatment Authority (VARTA).

New data reveals changing face of family formations in Victoria

Heterosexual couples comprised only 15 per cent of families formed as a result of donor conception in Victoria between 2014-15, according to the Victorian Assisted Reproductive Treatment Authority’s (VARTA’s) Annual Report 2015, released today.

The National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) has released new guidelines for assisted reproductive treatment (ART) in Australia.

The Ethical guidelines on the use of assisted reproductive technology in clinical practice and research, 2017  provides updated national ethical guidance for ART use in a clinical setting, addressing a number of complex ethical issues including:

New law gives all donor-conceived Victorians the right to know their heritage

New donor conception laws were implemented in Victoria on 1 March 2017. This world-first legislation gives all people conceived in Victorian from egg and sperm donation the right to know their donor’s identity.

New regulations starting December 2019

New regulations made under the Assisted Reproductive Treatment Act 2008, the Assisted Reproductive Treatment Regulations 2019 (the new regulations), start on December 13, 2019, and replace the earlier regulations which will no longer operate.

New teaching resource increases the scope of sexuality education

A ground-breaking new sexuality teaching resource has been launched today by the Victorian Assisted Reproductive Treatment Authority (VARTA) and Family Planning Victoria (FPV).

The Fertility and Assisted Reproduction: Teaching Module expands the remit of sexuality education in schools to information about fertility, donor conception and assisted reproductive treatment (ART), including IVF, donor conception and surrogacy.
