The Victorian Assisted Reproductive Treatment Authority (VARTA) is committed to upholding the privacy requirements of the Privacy Amendment (Enhancing Privacy Protection) Act 2012 Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (Vic) (PDPA) and other relevant legislation. This Privacy Statement ('the Statement') applies to the VARTA website and outlines the personal information collected through this website, why the information is collected and how it will be used.
VARTA values and respects the privacy of the people that it interacts with as well as protecting the personal and sensitive information collected in the course of performing its functions under the Assisted Reproductive Treatment Act 2008 (Vic).
‘Personal information’ is defined broadly in the PDPA as recorded information about an identifiable individual. Personal information may be collected via the website including, name and contact details relating to enquiries or feedback via VARTA’s online enquiry form and subscription to the VARTA newsletter. VARTA also collects information through Google Analytics to track the number of unique visitors to the website. The information collected by Google Analytics does not identify a user.
How and why personal information is collected on this website
Personal information collected through the online Enquiries form is used to provide advice, respond to positive and negative feedback and enhance VARTA’s services. Personal information collected through the online Subscription form is recorded in a secured database independent of the website and used solely for the purpose of distributing Newsletters and other communications as requested by the Subscriber.
Use and disclosure of personal information
There are no other additional uses other than the uses outlined above.
VARTA will not the disclose personal information collected as part of website visits to a third party without the consent of the personal to whom the information relates, unless required to do so by law or other regulation.

- Only authorised staff members are entitled to access your personal information and for approved purposes only. In addition, all staff sign a confidentiality agreement as a condition of their employment.
