How Can We Help You?

          About This Website

The Victorian Assisted Reproductive Treatment Authority (VARTA) (formally the Infertility Treatment Authority) is a statutory authority responsible for administering aspects of the Assisted Reproductive Treatment Act 2008. The Authority monitors programs and activities associated with the legislation, registers assisted reproductive treatment (ART) providers under the Act and approves import and export of donor eggs, sperm and embryos. It also provides public education including resources for professionals and the community on a range of fertility and ART related issues.

www.varta.org.au is an online gateway for information about ART in Victoria.  It provides information and resources for a range of audiences including the community, professionals, teachers and students.  This website has information on legislation, requirements for registered ART providers, how to apply for approvals and links to other organisations administering aspects of the legislation, including the donor treatment registers. We have information for patients, donor-conceived people, donors, their families and for people considering ART treatment.
